Yesterday, in front of the Grand Hotel in downtown Spokane, well over 200 incredible people stood up against the pompous, arrogant, and privileged MAGA twins, Gym Jordan and Mike Baumgartner as they raised money for MB’s reelection in 2026.
Loud horns blared, chants echoed, and expertly crafted signs greeted the MAGA donors as they ran the gauntlet to enter the building. The donors faced heckling, condemnation, and became a source of embarrassment to their community, including Spokane Indian’s owner Bobby Brett.
Did Baumgartner come out to address the protesters? Would it shock you if the answer was ‘no’? To him, we’re just “unhinged lunatics,” as he called us after his March, 2025 town hall meeting, or maybe he just doesn’t have the courage to confront the protesters…ya think?
Baumgartner's YES vote on the One Big BS/Murder Bill, set to take effect in January 2027, is already causing significant and devastating impacts on our community's healthcare and was the focus for the protest.
Starting October 3, 2025, Providence will shut down the outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinics at Spokane’s Providence St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Medical Centers, Spokane Valley Providence Medical Park, DominiCare, and the outpatient orthopedic PT clinics at both locations of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah.
Over 60 medical workers will lose their jobs and our community will be deeply affected. Sadly, this is just the beginning.
When Baumgartner voted against healthcare for our community, which isn’t expected to take effect until 2027, did he not realize that medical facilities set their budgets well ahead of the fiscal year? Was he banking on us forgetting about his vote by the time the 2026 election comes around?
Rest assured, Spokane Indivisible will remember MB's vote, and we will ensure our community does too. Through protests, events, and actions, we will shine a light on the harm caused in our communities by Baumgartner's arrogance and privileged decision to strip away healthcare—a basic human right protected by the constitution.
This morning Jack Hopkins wrote: “It wasn’t kings who built freedom..it was citizens willing to bleed for it. It wasn’t oligarchs who tore down walls…it was shopkeepers…teachers…priest, and mothers with kids on their hips.
Yesterday, I saw two mothers protesting with kids on their hips. That’s what defines us—Spokane Strong and Americans who deserve better.
Let’s get moving, time is running out.
Yesterday at the protest, attendees were asked to sign a petition urging MB to redirect the funds from his reelection fundraiser to keep rural healthcare clinics open. While the idea may seem far-fetched, every signature is recorded, amplifies your voices, and makes a statement. It’s not too late to sign the petition here

Events:
A funeral procession featuring a coffin, tombstones, musicians, and bagpipes will be held. Attendees will have the opportunity to write a note to Baumgartner and place it in the coffin. The event will occur in and around Riverfront Park, and once completed, faith leaders from the community will deliver the coffin and all the messages to Baumgartner's office.

WISE CATS Protest Team is creating props for a Street Theater Event to mourn the loss of programs, policies, and agencies devastated by the defeat of the Big Beautiful Bill that Baumgartner so proudly supports.
