Collaborating Pride and No Kings Events
Although Pride and NO Kings are not affiliated, we still look forward to sharing a unified belief in solidarity for human rights.
When Indivisible.org announced No Kings Protest date would be happening on June 14th, many of us who lead local Indivisible groups became concerned with the timing because we knew Spokane’s Pride Festival was also scheduled on the same day.
Spokane Pride Festival is one of the largest, and most fun events Spokane organizes, we wanted to get this right.
Indivisible groups and Pride set out to make both events work for our community. This year Pride added the Stonewall Rally scheduled for 3:00 - 4:00PM located at the Lilac Bowl in Riverfront Park, 507 N Howard Street. You can find the Lilac Bowl near the Clock Tower.
Several community members will speak and offer both entertainment and information.
Immediately following the Stonewall Rally at 4:00, those wishing to protest the No Kings event should take a brief walk to the red wagon in Riverfront Park, situated at the corner of Spokane Falls Boulevard and Washington Street. From there, No Kings will proceed to the sidewalks with signs and flags, exercising constitutional right to peaceful protest.
Following the ICE-related incident on Wednesday evening, Pride has voiced concerns about maintaining the protest's peaceful nature. Our Indivisible community is renowned for its commitment to peaceful actions. We are committed that No Kings will also adopt a peaceful approach, ensuring Spokane’s community, Pride, and Indivisible continue to be held in high regard.
Please use crosswalks in accordance with the law avoid obstructing traffic, refrain from blocking business entrances, and keep your bodies and signs from intruding into traffic. Make it a peaceful effective protest.
PJAL peacekeepers will be joining us.
Public Transportation Information.
We are expecting a very large crowd. Parking will be difficult, please use public transportation if possible.
Information provided by member Lani:
Find Spokane Transit routes here: Spokane Transit or call (509) 456-7277 as soon as the recording starts, press 0, then press 3. They pick up right away. I promise you will speak to a very nice person, who will be very glad to walk you through it, and answer any questions, they are great. If you haven't taken the bus, tell them. It's their job to make it as easy as possible.
On Division 25 bus goes right to Riverfront. On Market Bus 27 goes right to Riverfront. On Monroe Bus 4 goes 3 blocks from Riverfront. ETC. Tell the RTA person you want to go to Riverfront. It is a little challenging you have to map it out. But its no more time consuming than trying to find a place to park. And the next time you will know what to do.
Robert Reich gives us hope as we end a difficult week.
Robert Reich writes: “As we resist Trump’s tyranny, America gains in solidarity. As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous. As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime. As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear.
…All across America, people who have never before participated in a demonstration are feeling compelled to show their solidarity — with immigrants who are being targeted by Trump, with people who are determined to preserve due process and the rule of law, with Americans who don’t want to live in a dictatorship.
Peaceful protests don’t get covered by the national media. Most of the people who come together in places like Des Moines and Kansas City to express their outrage at what Trump is doing aren’t heard or seen by the rest of us.
Yet such solidarity is to be celebrated. It is the foundation of the common good. And although the number of people expressing it is still relatively small, it is growing across the land.” - RR

Spokane Indivisible Team
Hello Sami. I am going to be protesting No Kings day tomorrow. I just read a substack about what happens next. (The Library of Democracy) I’d like to know what Spokane Indivisible has planned for the future. Could you comment please?
